Winter Blues

March 14, 2012

No, this won't be a sad post about how depressing Winter can  be (although it really can be, right?) This is about all the wonderful things I am loving in BLUE. I am Crazy for Cobalt! Nutty for Navy! Itchin for Indigo!

[caption id="attachment_497" align="aligncenter" width="300"] Carrie's Apartment in Sex and the City[/caption]   My obsession with blue begins with the transformation Carrie's apartment makes in the first Sex and the City movie when she paints the entire space BLUE. I had to keep rewinding to take it all in, it's so luxurious! I love that the whole space is the same colour - this really makes a statement. The colour used is Electric Blue by Benjamin Moore.  The paint chip has been hanging in my front hall for weeks but I have decided yet if it will work...we will see!   These luxury flats first came onto my radar when they were featured on Oprah’s Favourite Things - Tieks. She showed them in Fuchsia which I adored but I went with California Navy to be a bit safer. The turquoise sole is a signature element of Tieks. I can’t wait for spring to get here so I can wear them out…they are so comfy and soft. Love them! So cute! These are from Joe Fresh…they would be so adorable on my girls I think they might both need a pair. They come in red as well. I’ve resisted them once now but I’m at the grocery store at least twice a week – I’m guaranteed to break down and buy them soon!     Three of my favourite trends are covered off in this one: blue & black, stripes, and chunky infinity scarves! This is Jessica Quirk from What I Wore.  She documents her amazing style one day at a time. I am hooked on seeing what she wears next! Honestly, I secretly want to be her although even if I had her wardrobe and style, I don’t have anywhere to go!     I spied these gorgeous cobalt studs on Etsy in the Botny shop by Dana Holscher. Her shop is the 'home of hand drawn earrings' which combines two of my favourite things: art supplies and jewellery!  This pair was coloured with Ultramarine Blue. Lovely!     These are my favourite blues in the studio these days: Cobalt Teal & Anthraquinone Blue. Stay tuned to see what comes out of these wonderful BLUES…

Now enough with the winter blues, bring on SPRING!

xoxo, julie
