Hey there, I hope you had a great summer! I can't believe it's over! Normally I wouldn't say it's over yet but this year it does really feel like the end. We had our last weekend at the cottage that we'll have for at least a month, because September is crazy! Also, the kids are back in school and the weather is rainy and cooler...
I have been super busy this summer, shipping out work to NYC and Vancouver last week. Let me tell you, logistics is not my thing. Figuring out freights and weights and customs, I just want to paint!
My crate made it safely to New York and is in the hands of Eloquen Art Company
. They will be showing my work at the Affordable Art Fair
this week...what a dream come true! The Affordable Art Fair is a well known fair, holding successful shows around the world. I am thrilled to be a part of it although it kills me that I won't be there to see it in person! Stay connected on Instagram
for images of the show later this week.
Next week I will be showing at the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition
. I am praying for good weather...after the downpour I experienced last summer at the Oakville Art in the Park, I'm a bit nervous about these outdoor shows! It is in the same location as always - Nathan Phillips Square, with an opening party Thursday night and then Friday, Saturday and Sunday 10:30am-6:30pm. Come say hello at booth J17!
I will be home for one day and then I'm off to Vancouver for the Interior Design Show, known as IDS West
. This is my first time doing a show like this so we will see how it goes! I will be in the Collect
feature exhibit with 12 other artists. I am really looking forward to seeing all the Interior Design super stars that will be there i.e. Jonathan Adler, Orlando Soria, Tommy Smythe, and the list goes on. I'm sure they are looking forward to seeing me too, haha!
I will be introducing a new product, pictured below. It is a limited edition archival print on acrylic. The image is actually printed on the back side of the acrylic and then float mounted on to the wall. It has a high gloss finish that really makes the colours pop. I'm excited to see what people think!
This will also be my first time using AirBnB
for a place to stay since the hotels in Vancouver are crazy expensive! So hopefully that works out and I don't have to sleep on the floor of my booth in the convention centre!
While these shows are of course going to be lots of fun, they are also a ton of work, and I am looking forward to being home in October. I'm hoping I can slow down a bit then, enjoy the fall, pick some apples, carve some pumpkins, that kind of thing. Hopefully I will see some of you at one of these shows. Thanks for catching up with me. Happy September!
